Sydney “Syd” Blomquist (born 08/31/1993) is an American-Canadian professional soccer player from Bel Air, Maryland.
After an impressive prep career in Maryland, which included being named an All-State selection in High school, Syd Blomquist went on to complete successful Division 1 collegiate careers at the University of Louisville (2011-2012) and the University of Akron (2013-2014).
In 2016, Syd continued her career professionally by joining SK Slavia Praha of the Czech First Division for a preseason stint. After making an impact by recording four points in five matches for SK Slavia Praha, Syd finished the 2016 season with Swedish club, Västerås BK 30. Syd ended up leading her new club to a first place finish and a promotion to the Elitettan after scoring three goals and tallying six assists in just 11 matches played.
In 2017, Syd joined Åland United of the Naisten Liiga. In two seasons with the Finnish club, Syd played primarily as a wingback on both the left and right side of the field. She appeared in 47 matches and recorded 16 points (3 goals, 10 assists). She helped guide her team to a medal finish in 2018.
January 2019, Syd signed with Sporting Clube de Portugal of the Portuguese 1st Division. She recorded 7 starts for the club and tallied 2 assists as a right back.
Due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, Syd returned to the United States and played with UWS club, Detroit City FC. She made an immediate impact for DCFC and was named MVP for the season.
In 2021, Syd signed with Ferroviária, the 2-time Copa Libertadores and Brasileiro champions. Syd played as a winger and wingback for the Brazilian club. She started her debut match in the "grenás" shirt against Cruzeiro.
During the summer transfer window, Syd made the move to France and signed with Division 1 club, ASJ Soyaux
On December 13th 2021, it was announced that Syd would be joining Avaldsnes IL for the 2022 Toppserien season. The Norwegian club is managed by John Arne Riise. Syd was a versatile player for the club. Playing as a winger and a forward throughout the year. She played 26 matches and recorded 7 points (3 goals and 1 assist).
